Caribbean Winter Circuit 2023

Cowes Week

The racing calendar is back and surpassing its regular speed. Combining old favourites and new events, this years Caribbean Winter circuit is set to be the best yet. Beginning in January 2023 avoiding hurricane season, the line up offers great racing throughout the region every month up until early May.

With the pandemic a distant memory, yacht clubs and marinas have turned their attention to the Caribbean Regatta with high hopes of making the most out of the destination and schedule. The guaranteed sun, large waters and consistent winds, means not only has the Caribbean become a popular choice within chartered holidays; it is now a destination for those keen to embrace the ever popular racing scene. Each island will host its own unique regatta, with organisers promising a strong focus on competitive and enjoyable racing.

The Race Schedule

The events calendar has been planned to allow competitors, spectators, and officials to sail or race from one event to the next. Beginning with the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) Transatlantic Race, the schedule will see entries competing throughout the Caribbean islands and surrounding coasts. From the Bahamans to St Maarten the multitude of islands make this an outstanding venue, concluding with Windward 500 in May; celebrating its third edition.

There is an overall excitement for this regatta and it is already drawing significant attention. With Michele Korteweg, president of the Caribbean Sailing Association, director of the St Maarten Heineken Regatta and general manager of the St Maarten Yacht Club stating:

“The well-promoted calendar and variety of regattas throughout the Caribbean mean racing boats have a fantastic number of events to attend, each with its own flavour. This makes it worthwhile for people to bring their boats here from Europe and the USA or fly down and charter”

Included in the season is RORC Caribbean 600; now onto its 14th edition it has well and truly established itself as a major highlight in the racing circuit. Setting off from Antigua yacht club the challenging race will take the journey through St Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla and Guadeloupe.

Also included is the 12th edition of the Superyacht Challenge. The week long regatta will see some of the mightiest Superyacht’s competing against each other in Antigua. In junction with the Caribbean Sea and Atalantic Ocean, Antigua, will also be nearing the season to its end. Antigua Sailing Week ending April and welcoming us into May has become one of the most prestigious racing events in the world and will see well over 100 yachts participate. In association with sailing week, Antigua to Bermuda Race now on its 4th edition will be an experience of about 1000 miles of tropical Atlantic sailing designed to suit a wide range or yachts and crew.

With many already registered from across the globe, teams are encouraged to express interest or register as early as possible. For a complete list of regattas and more information regarding the race schedule click here.
